Guide to Hiring Karaoke

How to find the best karaoke company for your needs!

Not all karaoke companies are alike. There are many different people out there trying to make money in one of the most FUN events for ANY occasion. The difficult part is making sure you get the type of service that is right for you. The more important karaoke is to your event or business, the better service you should hire. And since the cost of karaoke music and specialty equipment far exceeds regular Disc Jockey music, the services with the larger selections of karaoke songs and with the better quality cordless microphones will cost more but in most cases are well worth the extra money in quality, service and customer satisfaction!

The Hobbyist : Usually someone who loves to do karaoke and has purchased a small amount of music and a home use karaoke machine. Music selection is less than 2500 songs, no cordless microphones, and is more interested in doing most of the singing. This person wants to make a few bucks to cover the cost of their music. Weekdays $75.00 – 100.00 Weekends $100.00 - $150.00.

The Semi Pro : Started out as a hobbyist but has increased music selection to around 5000 songs. Might have a better karaoke machine but still no cordless microphones or they are cheap ones. Biggest problem is the chance of canceling a show because a better deal came along. Cost for 4 hours: Weekdays $100.00 - $150.00 Weekends $150.00 - $200.00.

The Professional : Usually a company or individual that has had several years of doing karaoke with references. Has professional karaoke equipment including quality (not cheap) cordless microphones, and a music selection in excess of 10,000 songs including the most current hits. Better services will have businesses where they are doing regular shows listed on their web site and usually have quite a good following of regular customers. This is the best service for the money. A good company will have several karaoke hosts on their payroll to guarantee your show will go on as scheduled. Cost for 4 hours: Weekdays $200.00 – 300.00 Weekends $300.00 - $475.00

The Showmanship Professional : This is a big show where you have a well-known host with an engineer and possibly extra crew. This show will be like what you see on TV with the host acting as master of ceremonies and is a full production event. Could possibly have lighting, effects, and even a video camera depending upon the package. This is a top show and you can expect to pay from $500.00 - $2000.00 per event.

If you follow these guidelines, you will be able to find the best show for your event and for those businesses that would like to run a regular weekly or monthly show just remember:

The better the service, the more customers that will be in your establishment!
